CLUB AND COUNCIL HISTORY RECOGNITION 2008
John Watson, History Chairman
The Association launches in 2008 a solicitation for club, council and league histories. The objective of the annual program is to capture important information about snowsports from the snowsports participant's perspective and especially from these local levels. Selection for the recognition will be based on digital presentation of club, council or league history according to a set of weighted criteria and judged by knowledgeable snowsports historians.
All submissions must be for unrestricted release and become the property of the Association. Multiple focal points for snowsports history will be designated as holders of the information. These holders may make the histories available on a loan basis from time to time.
The selection is not for outstanding club or council, although it is anticipated that some material may be common to both types of presentations. Think of these histories as museum or library reference resources.
Criteria are posted on the Association web pages with May 12 deadline for submissions and address for mailing to the judging panel. Winners will be announced at the FWSA annual convention. The first place winner will receive a $300 donation from the FWSA to be donated in the winner's name to the charity of their choice. Initial funding for this history recognition comes from Ben Newmarker, Mary Liz Azevedo and John Watson. A memento will be awarded to the selected submission and recognition letters to others submitted.
* All applicants will be recognized at the FWSA convention and some applicants may be invited to prepare display boards for the convention.
Criteria will include the following. Submissions should try to cover as much detail as available against these weighted criteria. It is more important to capture your history than to “check off all the squares.” Liberal use of photos and graphics is encouraged. These digital submissions should be readable with standard applications from CD or DVD.
