Since its founding in 1930, Far West Ski Association has maintained a working partnership with the ski industry in the development of valuable programs for Far West skiers and snowsport enthusiasts.
The mission of Far West Ski Association, as defined by the organization's founders, is to 'promote and protect the sport of skiing'. FWSA has affiliated with organizations that possess aspirations and goals similar to the Association. These organizations include: National Ski Areas Association, National Ski Patrol-Far West Division; Oregon Snowsport Industries Association, Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association, Washington Ski and Snowboard Industries, and the California Ski Industry Association.
FWSA provides a variety of opportunities for its members to meet and communicate with representatives of industry organizations. FWSA encourages its members to be actively involved in issues that will impact the future of winter sports and to support organizations that have partnered with us to achieve our mission.
Far West Ski Association offers the industry special opportunities to network with the councils and ski clubs through its industry programs. Through its organizational structure, the Association provides a target market of 50,000 active, recreational ski club members.
- Advertising opportunities are available in the 21st Annual Far West Skier's Guide, to be published in the fall of 2008. The official publication of Far West Ski Association, Far West Skier's Guide features articles and sections devoted to industry news. The publication is well-known for its Ski Resort Information section and Ski Club List.
- The 23rd Annual Silent Auction will be held in conjunction with the FWSA's 76th Annual Convention to be held in Bellevue, Washington, June 5-8, 2008. Over 80 companies participated in the 2007 Silent Auction in Santa Clara, California.
- Sponsorships are available on FWSA corporate, program and product levels, and for designated Association programs, the Annual Convention and the Far West Racing Association championships.
- Far West Ski Association recognizes outstanding industry contributions by individuals and organizations at the Convention's Annual Awards Banquet. The FWSA Awards program for industry include the Tommi Tyndall Award, Bill Mackey Award, Warren Miller Award, and Bill Berry Awards. Certificates of appreciation are also presented to all 5, 10, and 15 year industry participants in the Silent Auction and Travel Carousel.
From the creation of ski safety and athletic programs to the support of environmentally sound expansion of ski resorts, Far West Ski Association will continue to work with the ski and sports industries in an effort to better reach our mutual aspirations and goals.
