Service Awards

SERVICE BY SKI VOLUNTEERS

Nominations are solicited and accepted from the Awards Committee through March for each of the awards below. The Awards Committee is comprised of approximately 100 past award recipients, the current FWSA Board Members, Council Presidents, and FWRA officers. The Awards Chairman certifies the nomination citations are accurate and then conducts a balloting of the Awards Committee in April of each year to determine the annual winners. Awards are presented at the annual FWSA Convention.

All accepted citations are archived in the Western SkiSport Museum as a living history of FWSA volunteerism. In addition to commemorative plaques and medallions, a permanent display of past recipients is showcased at the Museum.

The FWSA Service Award categories are as follows:

Hans Georg Award

Awarded to the individual who has contributed significant achievements to skiing. The highest FWSA Award. [Read On..]

Elizabeth 'Schatzi' Wood

Awarded to the woman who has made a decisive contribution to skiing during either the past year or in a prior year. [Read On..]

J. Stanley Mullin Award

Awarded to the man who has made a decisive contribution to skiing during either the past year or in a prior year. [Read On..]

Terry Smith Award

Awarded for outstanding individual contribution to intramural skiing. [Read On..]

Jordan-Reily Award

This award recognizes a one or two year activity and achievement in ski related Public Affairs programs. [Read On..]

Jimmie Heuga Award
Awarded to the individual who has made a significant contribution to disabled skiing. [Read On..]

Tommi Tyndall Award
This award is given to the ski area, ski area operator, tourism bureau or ski area association who has made a distinguished contribution to skiing in the past year or in prior years. [Read On..]

Bill Mackey Award

This award is given for outstanding service to the skiing public by a ski industry or ski area employee. [Read On..]

Bill Berry Awards
These awards are given for outstanding service to skiing by the media. [Read On..]

Warren Miller Modern Media Awards
New in 2005 this award is given for outstanding service to skiing through film, televison and electronic media. [Read On..]

President's Award

The President of Far West Ski Association gives an award each year to one or more individuals who have made a significant contribution during the year. [Read On..]
